Volunteers Needed!

The Friends of Beck’s Mill is a volunteer organization that depends on people willing to donate their time and talents to open and operate the mill as a historic site.  People are needed to sell tickets and staff a gift shop; lead tours; maintain the grounds; and assist with milling, educational programs, and special events.  Whether you can help each week or only a couple of hours each month, you can make a difference. Many granting organizations look for evidence of volunteer hours as one of the factors in deciding which projects to fund.

Volunteers enjoy the following benefits:

    • Enjoying new experiences and skills that are valuable for other activities outside of the Mill such as planning, teaching, research, retail operations, and public speaking
    • Learning about our heritage and how our ancestors lived
    • Receiving free admission to the Mill
    • Receiving information about Mill programs and special events
    • Receiving invitations to special events not open to the public
    • Observing behind-the-scene operations of Beck’s Mill
    • Meeting and socializing with other people with similar interests
    • Learning and doing new things that exercise your mind and body.
    • Participating in occasional outings to other museums and historic sites
    • Receiving recognition of outstanding volunteer contributions
    • Knowing that you have helped improve your community

  • Some of the more complicated tasks may require training which the Friends of Beck’s Mill will provide. Other jobs will require very little or no special instruction. Beck’s Mill needs a variety of skills, abilities, and experiences.
