A view of the water supply for the mill. This was achieved by building a dam at the entrance to the cave. The pool area has filled with silt which must be removed before water can once again flow down the conduit.

A closeup view of the water wheel. This water wheel is an all metal design. You may be able to see some of the water wheel buckets are in need of repair.  Update: Close examination reveals that the only part of the water wheel that may be salvageable is the spokes. The water buckets are all rusted through.

Important! The Friends of Beck’s Mill request that there be no visitors on the grounds of the mill site due to unsafe conditions.  Please enjoy the pictures on this and other sites until the restoration is completed.

This photo shows the progress of the renovation externally.  The poplar siding is being replaced with cypress siding which will resist the effects of weathering for a much longer period of time.

This photo shows the waterwheel having been removed for rebuilding.

A photo of the water wheel and conduit.  Notice the break in the conduit.  When operating properly, a gate is closed at the lower end of the conduit, forcing the water to flow up the vertical pipe to the upper portion of the water wheel.
